One of the best, if not the best, superhero movies. Solid, dark and exciting, although with some minor flaws.
The villains are best, as usual in the Batman mythos. Heath Ledger is brilliant as The Joker, and the confrontation between Batman and his arch-nemesis lifted from Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke is perfect. Aaron Eckhart does a career-making role as Harvey Dent, and Maggie Gyllenhaal outshines Katie Holmes without any problems whatsoever.
My major gripe with this movie is that Batman’s become too much of a cross between James Bond and a superhero. He has no super powers, remember, but here he simply has too many gadgets and high tech contraptions. So will somebody please re-edit the movie, so we can skip most of Morgan Freeman’s role as Batman’s Q?

i still wish Katie Holmes had stayed on board as Rachel Dawes for the Dark Knight; it was like the time spent getting familiar with her character in Batman Begins was wasted…
